Invalid Address Issue During Income Tax Return Submission

Several times we get issues of address being incomplete for mandatory details such as locality, pin-code, state, country code etc. This seem to happen even after repeatedly correcting them. They seem to default back to null values even after successfully saving them. You would go back all the way into submitting all the submission screens, and at the end you again get the same error. This is quite frustrating. You can address this issue as below:  Update the address in the Profile itself although logically this shouldn’t be necessary. Tax Payer should be able different permanent address for profile and another perhaps temporary one for the return for the assessment year.  Use Chrome as your browser! Maybe Internet Explorer also will work too. Unfortunately I see the issue not resolving when I used Opera, DuckDuckGo, Safari etc., in the past.

Bank Account Failing While Submitting Return

Sometimes you may come across a strange error when an income tax return cannot be submitted. It fails with an error regarding the bank account asking you to reach the developer with the error details.  Here is the background, and what you can do about it. At least One Bank Account for Refund ,You will need to specify, and select at least one bank account that will be used by the income tax department to send refunds to you when applicable. But let us say, you have had some issues, such as the KYC not being completed with the bank, Aadhaar and PAN not being linked etc. In such cases, áfter’ you have made the needed corrections/updates with bank or tax portal for t...

ARN Issue on Income Tax Portal

Some of you may hit an unfortunate situation of inability to submit details in Income Tax Portal while seeking some services. One such situation is an error as, "Invalid Format for ARN". You'll see an error something like this.  Several people struggle to fix this issue, as the error description is not descriptive of the actual reason. I found that this happens when the master data in the Income Tax portal for the assessee is not complete for the mandatory fields. This is a common situation especially for people who had updated their profile long ago, while the Income Tax Department has updated their software making few more fields as mandatory. Once the data is fixed by manually editing the profile information in the income tax portal, this time the submission of information for the form 15CB or other needs could go through successfully, provided there are no further errors.  Hope readers will find this useful .If you have come across more situations such as this, please...
